Outdoors & Sports / Canoeing / Canoeing the White River
Canoeing is generally on the upper few dozen miles of the White River and below Bull
Shoals Dam. Good spring canoeing on the upper section roughly parallels State hwy.
16.
Below Bull Shoals, the White has tremendous trout fishing along the scenic bluffs and
inviting gravel bars for picnicking or overnight camping. The trout section of the
river stretches a distance of about 90 miles, and numerous resorts, outfitters, trout
docks and guide services have been established along the White River. Thousands of
visitors to the river enjoy year round fishing on the beautiful White River, relaxing
in a johnboat in the mist of the early morning fog or spending the day suspended
between the blue sky and clear blue waters of the White River.
