Walleye fishing is starting to pick up. I had a guest catch several on a small crank bait as well as with suspending jerk baits. Use the suspending jerk baits slow rolled after dark on long shallow points and flats. Slowly trolling suspending jerk baits is also working in the late afternoons, again on long shallow points and close to the buck brush.
Walleye are starting to show up in greater numbers. Walleye are being caught on suspending jerk baits after dark fishing for stripers as well blade type baits during the day. I even had a guest catch one on a spoon in 25 feet of water, suspended down 20 feet. Look for the walleye bite to continue to improve.

It is a really fun time of year to fish Norfork Lake. You can catch striped bass in very deep water any time of day or up in the shallows after dark or very early in the morning. Yesterday I went for deep fish. Found roaming schools of striped bass 60 - 70 down while sitting in 90 ft of water. Vertical jigging with a spoon or live minnows are working well. The black bass and crappie bite is also very good. If you don't mind the occassional cool weather (yesterday was 58 degrees) come down to fish the lake. I have an updated fishing report blog on Norfork Lake at www.hummingbirdhideaway.blogspot.com. If you enjoy fishing, Norfork Lake is the place to be. Striped bass is our trophy fish and you can expect to catch fish in the 6 - 15 pound range but it is not uncommon to catch a 20 or 30 pounder. If bass fishing is your style we have a great fishery for large mouth, small mouth and spotted bass. Winter crappie fishing is in full swing and the big slabs have arrived on the brush. Walleye, catchfish and bluegill are also very good table fair caught out of Norfork Lake. If you have any questions or need a great place to stay call Lou or Linda at Hummingbird Hideaway Resort at 870-492-5113.

Fishing was fast and furious on Norfork Lake this morning. I called some of my guests to come over to a location that I was catching fish. As soon as they arrived they all started to catch fish. I had a blast watching them catch fish which made for a great photo op. Several triples were caught and many fish. This is a great benefit you get when you stay at Hummingbird Hideaway Resort.
