Bull Shoals-White River State Park invites you to join us for our 2nd Annual Dutch Oven Cook-off on May 16, 2009. Teams will compete by preparing their favorite dishes with cast iron cookware and hot coals. Spectators will be able to watch as the teams showcase their craft and even be able to purchase samples after judging for a small fee! Prizes will be awarded for each category: bread, main dish, and dessert. Cooking begins at 10 am and judging begins at 2 pm. Special guests Phyllis Spears from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Linda Masters from the Baxter Bulletin will be among those serving on our judging panel. The event will also feature craft demonstrations and musical performances by local talent. This event in free to the public, funded by the 1/8th cent conservation tax of Amendment 75. July 4 - 5 is Family Reunion Time for the Ferguson family. The Fergusons homesteaded at the lower end of Tyler Bend in 1867. Their descendents gather at Bear Creek Log Cabins, just south of Grinder's Ferry, every summer over the 4th of July holiday.
